Factory Reset Audiocodes Mediapack 112 by Shell

Problem

I came across a problem that it was not possible to change the IP address of the MediaPack 112.

The IP Address, subnet and default gateway are greyed out as you can see in above image.

Solution

Go the the webinterface (System, Management, Telnet/SSH Settings) and enable SSH access.

Use PuTTy to connect to the current IP Address of the MediaPack. Use the default credentials if not changed: Admin – Admin

Type “Conf” to enter the configuration menu.

Type “RestoreFactorySettings” to Restore the MediaPack to factory default settings.

To confirm you’ll need to type “RestoreFactorySettings APPROVED”

The system will now reboot to Factory Default

Skype for Business Licensing Guide

Lately i’m getting a lot of questions about licensing for Skype for Business Server and Online. So i want to try to explain what kind of licenses you will need to have in the different scenarios.

  • Is E3 license enough for Skype for Business Server 2015 with Enterprise Voice?
  • Do we need PSTN Calling plan with the use of Skype for Business Server 2015?
  • Do we need to have Phone System (formally Cloud PBX) license when using Skype for Business Server 2015 in Hybrid mode?
  • Do we need a server license to use Skype for Business?

To make one thing clear, Client Licenses are required to access all Skype for Business Online (Office365), Hybrid scenario’s and Server (On-Premises) features.

Eventid 25073 Enable comfort noise on your trunk (Audiocodes)

Hi All,

First blog of the year, officially not allowed anymore but best wishes for all of you!

After going through some event logs on Frontend servers i came across this warning:

The Mediation Server service has received a call that does not support comfort noise. This event is throttled after 5 calls from a single Trunk peer.

The Mediation Server service has received a call that does not support comfort noise from the Trunk, SBC01.domain.com;trunk=SBC01.domain.com
Cause: The Trunk does not support comfort noise.
Resolution:
Please ensure the comfort noise option on the Trunk has been enabled.

For the ones who are not familiar with the term, Comfort noise (or sometimes called comfort tone) is synthetic background noise used in communications to fill the artificial silence in a transmission resulting from voice activity detection or from the audio clarity of modern digital lines. If want to read more about Comfort Noise i suggest you to the following pages Wikipedia, and RFC3389.

I’m running a Audiocodes Mediant 1000 for this customer, so let’s fix this warning.

Login to your Audiocodes Mediant and go to Setup, Signaling&Media, Media, RTP/RTCP Settings

Make sure you have enabled:

  • RFC 3389 CN Payload Type
  • Comfort Noise Generation Negotiation

Then go to Setup, Signaling&Media, Coders & Profiles, Coder Groups

Enable the Silence Suspression for all of your configured coders.

That’s All!
