Apple Watch Ultra 2: Seamless, Smart, and Exactly What I Needed 🍏⌚

From Series 6 to Ultra: My Upgrade Story

Before switching to the Apple Watch Ultra 2, I had been using the Apple Watch Series 6 (46mm) for quite some time. It did the job—and fit well into my Apple ecosystem—but after testing out the Garmin Forerunner 965, I started thinking more seriously about upgrading.

On May 16, I made the leap and bought the Ultra 2. What I got was exactly what I hoped for: a tougher, smarter, longer-lasting version of everything I liked in the Series 6 —with a serious boost in both form and function.

My Experience with the Garmin Forerunner 965: Great Hardware, Strange Software

I’ve had this blog in draft form for a long time, and now I’ve finally found the time to finish it and describe my last two years with smartwatches and fitness trackers and formulate my opinion on it. These are my experiences and needs. I enjoy exercising 3 to 4 times a week. I enjoy being active (and I can’t help it with 2 young children).

A Promising Start

After years of trying various fitness trackers, I decided to test the Garmin Forerunner 965. On paper, it’s a powerhouse: AMOLED screen, long battery life, advanced training metrics, and seamless pairing with my Garmin Edge 1040. And to be fair, in many ways, it delivered.

Review: Shokz OpenRun – The Perfect Headset for Every Athlete

2024-03-05 2 min read Review     "Erwin Bierens"

As someone who’s always looking for the ideal headset for cycling and running, I can honestly say the Shokz OpenRun is the best solution I’ve found so far. Whether I’m out on the road bike, going for a run, or riding indoors on the turbo trainer with Zwift, these bone conduction headphones are my go-to choice every time.

Comfort & Fit

The first thing you notice about the OpenRun is how lightweight it is (just 26 grams) and how comfortable it feels. Thanks to the open-ear design, your ears remain completely free, so you always stay aware of your surroundings—much safer when you’re sharing the road. The headset stays firmly in place, even during sprints or longer workouts. Honestly, after a while you barely notice you’re wearing it.

Review: Logitech Zone True Wireless Earbuds

Anyone who spends a large part of the day video conferencing knows what it’s like: headset head. Unpleasant, but a decent headset is still the best tool for good sound quality. The built-in microphone on a webcam just doesn’t compare, not to mention the annoyance of feedback caused by poorly placed speakers on your desk or loudly colleagues.

Logitech Zone Buds

Logitech promises with the Zone True Wireless Earbuds a set of in-ear headphones that delivers immersive experiences that help you sound clear, stay connected and confident. The company has done two years of research and development for this. By using three microphones per earbud (6 in total), voice sounds are separated from ambient noise (advanced beamforming). One of these microphones is inward-facing and uses the recorded vibrations (bone conduction) to isolate the speech signal even better.

After testing a week with the Logitech Zone True Wireless earbuds this is my experience.
